September 30, 2024

I. CALL TO ORDER
Vice President Preston called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
II. FLAG SALUTE
All those in attendance participated in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag.
III. ROLL CALL
Present: Commissioners Preston, Cass, Killin
Absent: Commissioners Grant, Johnston. By unanimous consent, Commissioner Grant and Johnston’s absences were excused.
IV. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
COMMISSIONER CASS MOVED TO APPROVE THE AGENDA AS SUBMITTED. COMMISSIONER PRESTON SECONDED THE MOTION, WHICH CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
V. PUBLIC COMMENTS (Each comment shall generally be limited to 3 minutes or less and shall be limited to Port business)
VI. CONSENT AGENDA
COMMISSIONER CASS MOVED THAT THE CONSENT AGENDA BE APPROVED TO INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING ITEMS. COMMISSIONER KILLIN SECONDED THE MOTION, WHICH CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
A. Approval of September 9, 2024 Meeting Minutes
B. Approval of Payments in the amount of $925,854.62
VII. PRESENTATIONS
A. Edmonds Chamber of Commerce
Edmonds Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Ryan Crowther provided an overview of the Chamber of Commerce organization, which was founded in 1907. He reviewed the mission of the chamber, the events they host and the period of growth since 2022. He also reviewed what is coming in 2025 and beyond.
VIII. POSSIBLE ACTION
No action was taken.
IX. CITY OF EDMONDS AND WOODWAY REPORTS
• Councilmember Brock – the budget process has started, and public hearings are scheduled. He provided an overview of the tax increase that will be on the November ballot.
X. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S REPORT
Executive Director Harris provided the following updates:
• General Updates
o Waterfront Committee Update – September 19 memo provided a recap, please reach out to the Executive Director with any questions or comments you may have.
o City of Edmonds/Port of Edmonds Staff Quarterly Connection Update – great meeting and a good start to planned collaboration with the City on topics such as permitting.
o Atrium Window Project Update – Building 3 repairs are complete. Building 4 repairs will be complete this Friday.
o Port Public Tour Recap – Small turnout, but a good walkthrough and learnings for future tours.
• Marina Updates
o Equipment / Facilities Update – Dry Storage north launcher cylinder changed out with the newly rebuilt one.
o Everett Coho Derby Recap – over 1900 participants with approximately 250 of them youth.
XI. COMMISSIONER’S COMMENTS AND COMMITTEE REPORTS
• Commissioner Killin – Commissioner Killin provided an overview of the Environmental Seminar and will send out summarized notes. She is attending the PNWA Annual conference in Vancouver this week.
• Commissioner Cass – Commissioner Cass attended the Environmental Seminar and shared information about the stormwater permit changes coming. She attended the City of Edmonds Council meeting last week and provided an overview on topics such as Green Building Incentives. She congratulated the volunteers that worked on the creek restoration, and mentioned a possible Port strike on the East Coast.
• Commissioner Preston – Commissioner Preston mentioned the Economic Development Commission is holding a retreat October 26 to look at goals/focus areas. The Marsh walkway is in need of repair, and he would like to speak more about this. He will be attending the WPPA Small Ports conference in October.
