Join us for an engaging session led by Captain Rich Christianson, Director of Safety and Training at Western Towboat. We’ll cover real-world towing configurations, practical tips for reading marine weather, and an inside look at maritime careers—including United States Coast Guard licensing.
Captain Rich has spent his entire 20+ year career on the water mainly operating tugs up and down the West Coast. Trained at the Maritime Academy and shaped by years at sea, he brings a mix of wild, firsthand stories and hard-earned knowledge to help you stay safe, confident, and capable out on the Pacific Ocean and Puget Sound.
The session wraps with a hands-on splicing demonstration—your chance to level up your skills and dial in your setup. Learn how to upgrade your anchor system, create custom dock lines, tow bridles, and eye splices, and walk away with practical techniques you can use right away on your own boat and gear.
General schedule for the evening:
- 6:30-7:00 Welcome and interesting insights from the pros
- 7:00-7:30 Hands-on lesson
